Thank You!

Mrs. Finley, my friend Nikki's mom, makes the best gifts! The lastest one is a pillow, that turns into a blanket. Daniel has really enjoyed his train blankets. He sleeps with them every night.

THANK YOU MRS. FINLEY AND NIKKI!

Best Christmas Present Ever!

We have been trying for months to potty train Daniel, but with no luck. So after spending about two months with minimal progress, we decided to give up and just try another time. Back to diapers we went and I decided that we would start trying again when I was on my Christmas break.
On the Saturday before Christmas we got rid of the diaper and Daniel ran around the house half naked. He definately tried our patience, and we were second guessing our decision about doing this whole potty training thing. The first morning I was sleeping in and Scott informs me that instead of Daniel going poop in the potty, he decided to poop right on the floor. But after three days with only a few accidents I think we finally have it! Scott and I are so excited! So here are some of my favorite "potty" pictures from the past couple of months.
This is a picture of Daniel sitting watching TV on his new potty. He went into the bathroom and pulled the potty out. Scott and I were both really excited because he seemed so ready for the whole potty thing, but I guess him sitting on it with pants still should been a clue that this wasn't going to be that easy.

This is one of my favorite pictures because of the story behind it. My friend Mia was visiting over the summer and Daniel was being really quiet. She went to look for him and found him upstairs in my bathroom. She yelled at me to get the camera..fast! Daniel was stretching his penis trying to get it over the edge of the toilet in order to "Pee like Daddy." I guess he got frustrated pulling and went to step into the toilet.

Daniel not wanting to take a break from playing outside with his cousin Amelia, we brought the potty to him.

Daniel reading his Thomas the Train catalog on the potty. He loves to read his "special" books while on the potty. I tried everything early on in order for him to be successful. We took a trip to Barnes and Noble and bought several books that he was only allowed to read when he was sitting on the potty. It worked for a little while, but then the novelty wore off.

But, now that he seems to be potty trained it was all worth it (all the reasoning (by the way who can really reason with a 2 year old?), the bribes and fights). Looking back it was frustrating at times, but overall when we went hard core potty training (no pants allowed), it didn't take him long at all. And I didn't want to wait until this summer because with a new little one I knew I was not going to have the energy to deal with it.
